With stunning drone footage, this 7-minute video from Dr. Stephen Young, Rebecca Smalley and Danny Szottfried at Salem State University’s Geography and Sustainability Department takes you around the Great Marsh to show the challenges to our area brought on by climate change. A picture is worth a thousand words, but we need the science in the narration to understand that what we see is not what we are going to have in the future if we do not take steps to mitigate the harm that our actions (or inactions) has caused. Stephen has long championed geography as art and has encouraged his students in Mapping Climate Change on the North Shore. This video is a wonderful and timely addition to that marriage of art and science.
